Hi folks, it's been a while! As we have already mentioned on the forums, thanks once again for bearing with us throughout what must have seemed like an age for any true fans of this mod. We can only apologise if at times its felt like you have been kept in the dark...
For what its worth, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, the hard times are hopefully over and with the community's help we can finally push towards release. With that in mind, in this update we cover: - Announcement 1 - With the release of the SDK, we can now announce our shift to the Crysis Wars version of CE2
- So where are we? - Shamelessly stealing from a forum thread title, we will bring you up to speed with the problems we have had over the last year and how we have responded to the challenges.
- Announcement 2 - Release Plans - Our rough aims for a road map to release
- Recruitment Drive - We need help do you have the skills and the drive?
- Announcement 3 - 1st Alpha Test Squad
- Some media for your perusal
So, lets get straight into the content... |

Yes………………We’re Still Alive. Welcome back everyone. Lots of crazy things have been happening in the last few months. As many of you know our website was hacked, and decided to give the homepage a facelift while we were fixing things. The site will continue to evolve with new features and tricks added. We also recently just saw the release of Crysis Warhead. We will be looking into its features once the C++ code is released to see how Warhead's release might impact our release strategy. So, what have we been up to? Well, as we mentioned in an earlier news post, we are well behind where we had planned to be. And no one is more bothered by that than the Obsidian Edge Dev team. At the moment we are still ramping production back up, but with real progress starting to happen. Unfortunately, some team members have had to go AFK to handle real life issues, but we have been adding new talent to replace them. At the moment, we have started testing our internal Alpha build. A lot of coding work, with its associated stand alone testing has been done and is looking good, while work on mapping and props continues. For instance, right now one of the very active threads in the Dev. section of the forums is how to best implement the role of medic into the game. I just started a thread in the forum titled How should the medic role work in OE? , and would like to hear from as many people as possible. Be sure to click the Read More link to the right for the rest of the update.......... |

Well, the site is back up with a bit of a flavor of where we are going from a "New Look" standpoint. The new skins for the site are actually still in development, so you will be seeing them in a while. Meanwhile, a couple of notes on changes: - We have upgraded every aspect of the site. A new version of Joomla, phpBB 3, a new forum bridge, etc. Some stuff has been dropped to clean up the site a bit (sorry, no more shoutbox).
- Users that registered after May 17, 2008 and never posted have been (for the most part) deleted. Check first, and if that includes you please register again. We're sorry about that, but we were getting creamed by spambots while the forum was running without the front end.
- Some userID issues have been fixed that were mis-matches between the forum and the front end. If you have been having problems in the past, see if it works better now (yes that includes you, Lightspeed!).
- Comments about any issues and feedback on the revised site is appreciated.

Yes, we received the complete SDK with everyone else on the planet, so we are shaking off the dust and re-engaging the machine. We've had to see who we still have from the team on-board, as well as review where we left off at. So we hope shortly here we will have everyone moving in the same direction and a bit after that be able to share some mod goodness with you. Keep checking back. And if you are a serious level designer with some proficient past work to show us, we want to hear from you. |
